The Lost Son is a booklet based off of one of the best known parables of Jesus, the Prodigal Son. Full of stunning illustrations and a well written storyline, it is great tool for anyone desiring to know more about God's unconditional love and grace. This is a story of a young inspiring soccer player by the name of Rico who was entering the summer before his first year of college. Rico felt he deserved his father to pay for him to go on a summer trip to Europe. So in his luxurious Paris hotel, he hosted parties and had the company of several women. At the end of the summer, Rico decides not to go back home to begin college. An unexpected turn of events leaves him on the streets, cold, broke, homeless, and desperate. He wants to return home but fears what his father will say or do. Not only had he left his father, but if he did return, he would have to come clean about his recent lab test results.
In addition to Rico's story, the Lost Son offers a time of self reflection. It goes on to show how Rico's relationship with his father mirrors how we relate with God. It allows the reader the opportunity to relate with Rico's life on a personal level. The booklet also provides a new perspective and kind of life that is waiting for us to discover when we completely depend on God's grace.
Excerpt #1 from Page 1:
"Rico stared at the clinic's dirty white floor. Waiting rooms in Paris were the same as they were everywhere - cold, drab, and boring. But Rico wasn't bored. He had been in a continuous state of terror for the last two days, and now he was utterly drained. Waiting for lab results in a strange clinic certainly wasn't the destination he had imagined six months ago."
Excerpt #2 from Pages 16 and 17:
"Just as Rico rebelled against his father, we rebel against our Father in heaven. This leaves us empty, unfulfilled because we think that God is now displeased with us. But when we finally turn to God, we learn that He loves us with a love that we could never hope to earn."
Excerpt #3 from Page 30:
"You can receive Christ right now by faith through prayer. God knows your heart and is not so concerned with your words as He is with the attitude of your heart. A suggested prayer is on the next page. Does this prayer express the desire of your heart? If it does, pray this prayer right now and Christ will come into your life as He promised…"
